Computer Barn opening hours and precaution measures

Due to the pandemic, the computer barn will only be opens when situation allows. Please refer to the following website for the latest opening hours. https://itsc.ust.hk/services/academic-teaching-support/facilities/computer-barn


​​​​​​​All computer barns have been sanitized with the "Germagic" antimicrobial coating disinfectant spray (that provides up to 90 days of anti-bacteria protection) and only half of the seats will be available for use when it is opened.

Please also take the following precaution measures when you use the computer barn

  • Do not use the computer barn if you have fever or respiratory symptoms
  • You must wear a mask inside the computer barn
  • No group gatherings of more than 2
  • Practice Physical Distancing
  • Do not eat or drink
  • Wash your hands after using the barn

Virtual Barn updates

Even though you may not be able to access the physical computer barns for the academic software and programming environment, you can still access the virtual computer barns remotely for such purpose with your own devices.


The virtual barn has been upgraded to the latest software version. It is advised to update your VMWare Horizon Client to the latest 5.x version. Please refer to the installation guide for the setup of the new Horizon Client to enjoy the new features and fixes https://itsc.ust.hk/services/academic-teaching-support/facilities/virtual-barn/installation


​​​​​​​After you entered the ITSC account and Password to login the virtual barn, remember to complete the Duo 2FA process by entering (1) in the Tokencode input box, a Duo push authentication will be sent to your mobile phone for login approval.

Apart from the Academic Software and Programming Software pool, ITSC has added the new AI / 3D Software pool which includes software / development kits for AI and 3D development (including Solidworks, CUDA library, Matlab, Tensorflow, Anaconda and Python, etc). This new pool is equipped with GPU acceleration for the AI / 3D software to perform faster.
