Enhancement of Path Advisor at its 10th Anniversary

MICHAEL TANG, Associate Director (Special Projects)

Time flies and it has been 10 years since the first launch of Path Advisor - a very successful project led by Prof Raymond Wong of CSE.  To celebrate its 10th anniversary, ITSC has worked with Prof Raymond Wong and a group of student interns to enhance the Path Advisor with a number of new functions.

The Mobile App of "HKUST Path Advisor"

A native mobile app has been developed, covering map viewing, location searching and path searching.  Users can locate themselves on the map with the app via GPS on their phones. Currently, the localization feature only supports the Academic building, more locations will be supported in the next stage of development.  The app will soon be made available on the Google Play Store (Android) & App Store (iOS). Stay tuned to our announcement.

3D View

A 3D view of campus buildings is added as an alternative view in addition to the 2D floorplan, providing a more holistic view of the venues in buildings. Look for the 3D button on the floorplan.
